Staff are being encouraged to take on some of the world’s most iconic mountains to help them achieve their personal fitness goals.
We have converted the height of well-known mountains, like Mount Snowdon, Ben Nevis and the Matterhorn, into steps and given everyone access to a fitness tracker to monitor their progress towards the summit.
Research by NHS England says that regular physical activity can help combat health issues, such as heart disease, strokes, type 2 diabetes, cancer, anxiety and depression. It also recommends that adults should exercise for a minimum of 30 minutes five days a week, yet a third are exercising less than 30 minutes per week.
Michael Lambe, Director, M. Lambe Construction, said: “Sometimes people struggle to exercise regularly. We believe that employers have a responsibility to promote the benefits of regular physical activity to their staff and encourage them to make lifestyle changes that lead to a greater quality of life and wellbeing.”
