M. Lambe Construction is fundraising for homeless charity iShelter

M. Lambe Construction, a Birmingham-based civil engineering and groundworks company, has launched a fundraising campaign in aid of homeless charity iShelter, Birmingham’s only permanent night shelter.

Homelessness and rough sleeping are becoming an enormous problem in the city, with the official count of 91 people sleeping rough in 2018. During the same period, a staggering 23 homeless people died, up from 18 in 2017 and almost twice the national rate.

At iShelter, the team offer far more than just a warm safe place to stay. They provide a mentoring programme to give individuals the best possible chance to find their feet and move forward in the future.

There are 11 beds at Tabor House, Digbeth, each available for up to 30 consecutive nights and its mentoring programme has helped many individuals secure employment and subsequently move to rented accommodation.

Michael Lambe, Director, M. Lambe Construction, said: “As a family run business, supporting charities has always been part of our ethos.

iShelter is a local, predominantly volunteer-run organisation which means a significant percentage of our donation is channelled directly to providing its core service. We can see the impact our donation has in our local community and on individuals.”

With iShelter’s Tabor House costing £100,000 per year to run, here is an example of how your donation will be used:

  • Basic toiletries for one person £3
  • Dinner and breakfast for one person £5
  • A bed for one night £10
  • Dinner, breakfast, shower, laundry and a bed for the night £20
