Research conducted by Experian, in association with CITB, has revealed that construction output in the West Midlands is predicted to increase by 1.3% per annum between 2017 and 2021.

The report, Construction Skills Network Forecasts 2017–2021, has identified the infrastructure sector as the main driving force behind the growth. A £1.8bn road improvement plan, including a £335m motorway upgrade investment to the M6, and the long-awaited £11 billion High Speed 2 rail link are attributed to the improvement.

Whilst output from the private housing and commercial sectors, forecast to grow at approximately 1.5% on average a year, are also set to contribute to the gain.

This, against a backdrop of political and financial uncertainty, means the outlook for the West Midlands region is positive.

• Working with Keepmoat Homes, we are helping to deliver a new housing project in Walsall. Waters Keep is part of an £88m regeneration scheme to improve the quality of life for residents living in the area. Our £24m contract, includes: the substructure components for 731 homes and 3 apartment blocks, 2,159 Lm of new adoptable roads, 15,412 m2 of regulating to existing estate roads and 1,036m of mains service ducts.
• On the motorway network, we remodelled the busy junction 2 of the M6 near Coventry. Appointed by Osborne, we constructed an additional lane to the approach from both North and South, as well as around the island itself. Over on the M1, we installed emergency turning areas between junction 20 and 21. These works were carried out at night to avoid disruption to traffic.
• We’ve also worked with Lovell Partnerships to carry out civil engineering works for the £100m regeneration of the Castleward area of Derby. Previously an unattractive and underused brownfield location on the edge of the city centre, the project consisted of 164 new homes, 16,500 square feet of commercial space, extensive remodelling of the surrounding highways and the high specification upgrade of the boulevard connecting the Westfield Shopping Centre to Derby Train station.
