£1 billion housing delivery fund launched to kick-start house building

The James Brokenshire MP, The Secretary of State for Housing has pledged £1bn of loan finance in an effort to get thousands of affordable new homes built across England.

Launched in partnership with Barclays Banks, The housing delivery fund will provide small and medium sized businesses with the financial support they need to progress their housing developments.

The main objective is to help bring to market much needed new social housing, retirement living and apartments for rent. It will also sponsor housing delivery that is based on greater innovation, such as brownfield land and urban regeneration projects.

Support will be made available in packages ranging between £5m to £100m and open to developers with a proven track record of constructing high quality new homes. Successful candidates will also demonstrate they have experience in delivering challenging projects on time and to target.

The financial stimulus is the latest in a long line of packages launched by the UK Government, each designed to support its vision of achieving the construction of 300,000 new homes per year by 2020. It follows on the back of 217,000 houses built last year, an increase in housing supply not seen for almost a decade.

As house building gets back into full swing, M. Lambe Construction will continue to invest in the Midlands, building the homes and infrastructure needed to help support the growing population.

And we are contributing to its development right now. At Hackwood Farm in Derbyshire, our team are supporting Miller Homes and Redrow Homes with the building of 243 new homes and associated infrastructure works.

In Cofton Hackett, Birmingham, we are helping St Modwen Homes deliver a vibrant and sustainable new housing scheme, as part of the multi-million pound regeneration of the former MG Rover site. Our works, include: construction of 185 foundation bases, new roads and sewers, and landscaping.

But, it is not just about ‘excellent’ project delivery. We understand the importance customers place in having a specialist who can work closely to ‘identify and eliminate’ risks as early as possible. Through continual investment in training and recruitment, we possess some of the most ‘talented and flexible’ people in the industry, who can draw on a ‘wealth of experience and knowledge’ to find the right solution to any given challenge.
